We all experience highs and lows in life. It's important to recognize the importance of both and to always strive to find a balance. The lokai bracelet was created by Steven Izen, a remarkable young man that was inspired to develop this product upon hearing that his grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The lokai bracelet is infused with elements taken from the highest points and lowest points on Earth. The white bead contains water from Mt. Everest, the highest point in the world. The black bead contains mud from the dead sea, the lowest place on earth. Both the black and white bead symbolizes life's highs and lows - sometimes you're on top of the world, stay humble. Sometimes you've hit a low, stay hopeful.
After the product and logo was developed, Pollen was brought on-board to create both a visual and web strategy to communicate both the functional attributes and authenticity of the bracelet, as well as the emotional story behind lokai. After establishing a visual vernacular, Pollen built a highly immersive, award-winning e-commerce site, as well as printed collateral, sign-age, press materials and more.

Pollen started the process by doing research and conducting interviews with Steven, lokai's founder, to plan a content strategy for communicating his story. After resolving the content and visual strategy, Pollen worked up immersive web concepts, all designed to take the user on a journey to learn about Steven's story and the uniqueness of his product in a highly visual and interactive way.
The website was designed to communicate a fresh, contemporary and premium aesthetic. Pollen focused on creating a duality between emotional and functional elements to help lend an aspirational quality that is lacking across the competitive landscape. Loaded with beautiful visuals and animated surprises, Pollen also incorporated a social sharing features to help build an online community for lokai - giving their fans the ability to open up a dialogue with Steven's product, sharing personal experiences and stories via social media.
One of the best thing about the lokai site is that it holds no punches on responsive designs. The images are just as vivid and engaging, the site is just as enjoyable to use, the story of lokai and the product itself shine equally on any screen size.
The lokai site was built on the powerful Magento e-commerce platform. One thing that you don't see on Magento very often though, is the level of content-management capability Pollen had intelligently built into the lokai site. Known for its open-source foundation and enterprise capabilities, the expert build of lokai on Magento had given the lokai team many advanced back-end capabilities and room for growth.
After crafting a truly unique and experiential website, we couldn't wait to extend the design language to various touch points. After the design team handed off the web files to production, we spent the following 2 months working up print and press materials to support the brand/packaging/social launch in parallel with the activation of the website.
